Default Opening Word 2 documents in Office Word 2003

I tried to open an old document created in 1995 - probably in Word 2 but I am
not certain. I received a message saying that my registry settings would not
allow me to open it. I am using Windows XP and Office Word SP3. Is there any
way that I can access this old information. Thank you.

You can use the registry change files in this article to reset the FileBlock default security settings from Office 2003 SP3.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938810/?FR=1

After that turn on
Confirm conversions on open
in Word 2003's Tools=>Options=>General
and use File=>Open to try to open the file. Depending on the version of the .doc file you may or may not have the correct converter
already installed to allow you to open it.
