Default Opening old word docs in Vista Home Premium

I am not able to open word documents copied to my laptop using Office 2007.
Am I missing something? PPT,XL and Adobe all open but not word. The warning
is 'This is not a winword 32 document' or something similar.

Just to clarify: The docouments are DOC files created in a previous version
of Word, and you are unable to open them in Word 2007?

Susan - correct. All other elements of Word 2007 appear to open with no
problems.

Would you mind posting the exact error message? Is this ALL Word documents
that came from one machine? What version of Word were they created in (if
the same)?
