Default Office XP and Office 2007 on same computer?

I own a legal copy of Office XP from my previous, now defunct, laptop. I just
bought a new laptop with Office 2007 Basic on it, which I also paid for (not
a trial version). Although I can see the appeal of Office 2007 for some
users, it turns out (much to my disappointment) that my customizations made
in Office XP that greatly simplify my working life are no longer possible
with the ridiculously difficult-to-customize Ribbon in Office 2007. Thus, I
have no choice but to continue using Office XP.

Question: can I install Office XP on this same machine and have both
versions on it at the same time? That way I can still get my work done but
gradually learn Office 2007. Or, is it not possible to install them at the
same time?

Second question: If I have to uninstall Office 2007 before installing Office
XP, will there be an obstacle to installing Office XP on a new machine, given
that the old machine it was previously installed on is defunct (mother board
burned out)?

Default Re: Office XP and Office 2007 on same computer?

The MS advice is to install the earlist version first, in the case of
OfficeXP via a custom install to a version specific folder, eg
.............\OfficeXP
Update it before installing the later version
Only a single instance of Outlook can be installed If at all possible I'd
reccomend Outlook2007
You might want to ammend your office shortcuts prior to installing later
version, eg Word>WordXP
