Office Dictionary reference book (under tools - research menu)

Being very thick headed I'm unable to discern whether Microsoft Office 2003
Pro suite is sold with with a functioning dictionary? Or possibly I've become
old and infirmed and no longer can locate the tool in the Office suite.

By dictionary I'm not referring to a spell checker, but an actual dictionary
module (helper application) that allows the user to find word definitions,
pronounciation, etymologies, usage guidance and examples in phrases or
sentences.

The dictionary I suspect should be selectable within the "Tools" menu at
"Research" of any Office application (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)


Using Word 2003 as an example; selecting "Research" from the "Tools" menu,
a pop-up window on the right border is displayed. A pull down menu titled
"All Reference Books" will display only a Thesaurus: English (U.S.)

However, a " Translation" (French or Spanish) dictionary can be accessed
that includes the capabilities mentioned earlier.

I'm attempting to discover if the typical over-the-counter version of MS
Office 2003 Pro is normally equiped with this English (U.S.) dictionary
module-application with the capabilities described earlier. Or, whether the
DoD - USAF procured (DoD - USAF unique or site licensed) version of MS Office
2003 Pro has been somehow stripped of a English (U.S.) dictionary?

The issue is obscured from an attitude of indiference since the USAF
software - network - technical support professionals I've contacted don't
appear to exhibit an informed knowledge of the differences between a
spell-checker and a dictionary.

I need to know whether I've imagined a genuine dictionary application on
previous iterations of Office, and because of disuse Office no longer is
shipped with this capability, or whether the USAF abridged version of MS
Office 2003 Pro has been neutered or this tool for some obscure vulnerability
issue. Please advise
