Default Office Crashes and Update Errors

Hi folks.

I have an aggravating problem:

I open two power point or word files.

On the task bar I right click and close each one which leaves the empty app
in the taskbar.

I right click and close that and the program crashes.

I ran the office maintenance program and it says there is an update to solve
the problem. I follow the links and it eventually refers me to use Microsoft
update and shows me how to open it. I do and Microsoft update says I have
everything updated. I checked and all the updates seem to be in place.

i have the screen shots in the order the windows appear, but I can't seem to
include them for your viewing pleasure.

Any ideas? Anyone know which update was supposed to solve this issue so I
can undo it and then reinstall it?

I'm using Office Professional 2007 and Vista Home Premium.

Thanks for ay help you can provide.

Default RE: Office Crashes and Update Errors

Just an update...

After reading another recent post, I realized that this problem only occurs
if I've double clicked on the files to open them.

If I go into Power Point and open the files using the Office Button -> Open,
I can right click and close each without a problem.
