Office Basic Edition 2003-Picture Manager

After scanning a picture or document and moving it into a folder, I can view
it in the folder. The next day, there is an "x" instead of the picture and I
cannot view the picture. Every folder with a "thumbs" file is the same but
the folders that do not have a "thumbs" file can be viewed and do not have
the "x".

I know the picture is still there because "properties" says there is kb or
mb in the file. I need to know how to access my pictures. Thank you for ANY
help anyone can offer.
