Office 2007 Enterprise Installation

I just updated from Office 2003 Professional to Office 2007 Enterprise. Now
every action I try requires the Office application to got through a loop
where they look like they are installing and configuring themselves. One the
installation and configuring process completes the applications appear to
work correctly.

I saw where there was an issue with the installer so I downloaded
msicuu2.exe and ran it as administrator. That did no good.

I would like to open the Office applications and send an email/check for
email without having to wait for the application to install/configure itself
each time.

I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5000+ running Windows Vista
Home Premium with 2 GB of RAM.

I would greatly appreciate some help with this.

You purchased this Office 2007 Enterprise Edition from your employer \Company . I suggest that you ask their IT person for help on this issue

Actually the software was purchased from Microsoft under a Home Use Policy
purchase agreement between the US Army (my employer) and Microsoft. My
money went directly to Microsoft.

This looks to be a fairly common problem with only one solution offered
based on my research in this forum.

Actually you only paid Microsoft for the shipping + handling of the
install media, the license for that "copy" belongs to your employer, and
when you cease to be employed by the Army, your right to use it ceases
also. As to the problems you are having with the "configuration" is
likely due to security on the Vista system. Perhaps checking that the
configuration id done while your profile has administrative rights would
solve it. You may also check in the Vista groups for more specific
issues arising from the User Control features of that operating system.

without getting into a discussion about a license I would note that this is
a common, and as far as I can tell, a 'just live with it ' problem that
Microsoft has no intention of fixing. I have loaded Office Pro 2007 on a
unit and retained the 2000 versions of Word, Excel, and Access. this was
done so I could support clients who, wisely, have not upgraded. I have just
spent parts of several days searching various news groups for "configuration
wizard" and botton line is: "Don't run two versions of any office app on one
system". No matter the operating system, XP or Vista, you will have the
"Office Configuration" problem.

I solved the problem by removing 2000. Word and Excel allow you to run in
what they call 'Compatability Mode' to retain the features of older ducuments
and spreadsheets. You just don't get the newer, better, greater, features of
2007. Even if you creat a new document you can save it in the older format.
Also you can download (free) converters for systems running only apps prior
to 2007.

Unfortunately removal of Office 2003 is not an option for me as I choose the
"Upgrade" option when I installed Office 2007. Based on what you said I
suspect there is a 'ghost' of Office 2003 resident on my system and Office
2007 sees it.

If you did not keep a copy of the older version on your system then you have
a different problem than I had/have. Look in \Program Files\Microsoft
Office\ if you have \Office10 and \Officexx (xx being a number such as 11 or
10) the older version was not removed. Office12 is the default folder for
2007.

From what I have read this problem seems to only happen when two versions
are installed and the problem is regeristry keys that get reset when you open
one version after the other. Something about needing to be repaired.

Suggest you do a search on 'Configuration' in the Office/Setup group of this
newssource.

late that they can't use the programs later, and get really upset.

I want to upgrade Office 2003 to 207, but the problem that we are
using in our company RMS ( Right Management system) of Microsoft. i'm
affraid that that it still not certified to be used with 2007.

Do you have an idea about this.?
