Default Office 2007 configures at each launch

We have a lab of 25 computers that originally had Office 2003 installed
through group policy. We recently installed Office 2007 with the update
option. We did not push this installation through group policy. After the
installation, both Office 2003 and Office 2007 icons were in the startup
menu, although the 2003 icons were invalid. We deleted the 2003 icons from
the startup menu but now, every time we launch Office 2007, it runs the
configuration. Help! I don't want to have to manually uninstall files from
the registry to make this work. Thank you!

Default RE: Office 2007 configures at each launch

If anyone reads this, I have found a solution. Because we pushed 2003 out
with group policy, I guess some of those settings were still being held in
the ntuser.dat file. I deleted this file and now 2007 works like a charm.
The only drawback is that I do have to reset some of the profile settings,
but this is quicker than uninstalling through regedit or even reformatting
the computer!

Thanks for letting us know, that'll probably help someone else.
