Default Office 2007

I get the following message when I try to open an excel file exported from
Peoplesoft: "the file you are trying to open is in a different format than
specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is
from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file
now" Is there an incompatibility problem here? I can eventually still open
the file but I'm not sure if it is corrupted. How do I prevent this message
from coming up.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer

You prevent it by making sure that you save your files as the Excel 97-2003
format.
