Office 2000 won't load on Windows Vista Machine

My new computer has windows vista and came with a trial version of office
2007. The trial is over and I tried to load my office 2000 small business but
it won't load. It goes to a "please wait while windows configures microsoft
office 2000" window and then freezes there! How can I load my old office
version and get rid of the trial? Anyone? Please!

Thanks Mary, will the removal of Office 2007 (as described) allow me to
install my Office 2000?

That may be all that is necessary, but you will need to do that first
and then write back in the event you aren't successful loading 2000, and
include any error messages.
