OEM Install Help

There's a folder called UPDATES on the root of all the install disks from the
OEM Install Kit. In the folder, is README.TXT which says the following:

"Any patches placed in this folder will be applied during initial install."

I've found very little documentation about this folder. In any case, I
placed SP1 in it but it doesn't look like it worked. I even extracted the
package which gave me several MSP files and placed those into the folder.
Still no joy! I used to slipstream service packs into installation
directories but this seems pretty idiot proof. However, I figured it looked
too easy and it's looking like it is indeed! How can I use this folder?
