Not opening any Office documents (word,xl,ppt ..)

Hello,

This could be a strange problem.
I have Office 2003 running on Win 2K.
I can open all the office applications (like Word, Excel, PPT) - new pages.
But I cannot open any saved documents from my system.
No error message is also coming. Not sure where to look for excel

I removed and reinstalled the entire office package also, but in vain.
I searched on this knowledge base, but couldn't find any specific solution.
Can somebody point me in the right direction?
