Default Naming Taskbar buttons

Can I rename, temporarily, the buttons on my taskbar, e.g. with nicknames.
When I have lots of documents open from the same or different applications,
it would be extremely useful if it was possible to give the different buttons
on the taskbar 'nicknames' or temporary names - if the documents have very
similar names and you're not sure which it is that you need at that
particular moment, its frustrating having to click through every button on
the taskbar until you reach the one you need.

I'm sure I was told how to do this years ago but can't remember now and
can't find anything in Help online.

taskbar button manager here

If this doesn't work for you then post in Windows OS Newsgroup for
assistance regarding the taskbar.
