Microsoft Word/Wordpad

I want to use Microsoft Word 97 as my default for all documents. When
someone e-mails me a document, I am asked to save it to Wordpad. Then I
cannot open it. I do not want to use Wordpad. How can I get rid of it and
just use Microsoft Word 97?

You are asked to "save it to Wordpad"? What is the actual message you get?
When you say "all documents", do you mean files with the *.doc extension?

You may need to re-register the Word file extensions in the Windows
registry:
