I have recently bought a new laptop which i have to enter a product key to
have the full version. On my old PC i have windows XP i thought i could just
install this onto my new laptop but this doesn't seem to be the case, vista
doesn't like it. i really dont want to have to buy a product key can anyone
help?

Hi JoAnn sorry as you can probably tell im not great with computers!!! my
new laptop has vista and microsoft 2007 on my old pc i have 2003 i think. I
thought i could just install the 2003 version onto my laptop instead of
having to buy a new product key to take the trial 2007 version to a full
version but vista dosen't seem to like the 2003 version, would that be
correct?

Office 2003 is fully compatible with Vista.
Though you have to uninstall the trial first, if you didnt this could cause
problems.
Also, its cheaper to buy a retail edition of Office07 from, eg Amazon.com,
than it is to purchase a key from MS to convert your trial

If your copy of *Office* 2003 (Microsoft is a company, not a program) came
preinstalled with your other computer, you cannot just load it on your new
computer. You could use it as the qualifying product for the upgrade version
of Office 2007 if you wanted to go that route.
If you purchased Office separately, then you probably can install it on your
new computer. You need to read the license agreement first tho. There are
several different versions and your rights can/will vary.
