Default licensing question

Hi,
We have a client who has Office 2002 or perhaps XP on his laptop. He wants
to know if he can install this on his new Desktop as well.

Thanks.
Daniel

The EULA will state the options. But as Tom said, OEM license( NO ),
Retail license( Yes)

I am not sure.
I would like to have as much information as possible though so I don't have
to play phone tag with him. Of course I realize that I should've found this
out but I didn't. Anyway I can have all the scenarios or atleast OEM versus
Retail and 2003 versus XP so that whatever he has I will have an answer.

Thanks.

Thanks.
Now is there any difference if it is say 2003 or XP or is it pretty much the
same.

I don't have the clients EULA in front of me and he may not be willing to
read it so I would like to have a verbal answer for him.

Thanks.

I have an OEM Office Professional Enterprise Edition 2003 and the EULA
says I can install it on a desk top and a lap top. Being as I don't own
a laptop, I installed it on two desktops and both activated on line no
problem. They also became "genuine" when I went for updates. Now whether
this is true for Office XP (2002), I don't know and you will have to
look at the EULA or just try it and see what happens!

If he won't give you the info you need to answer his question properly, then
err on the side of caution and tell him no.

OEM No, Retail, Yes, (depending on the suite)

That would depend on the Edition, but the OEM is a single install
always. So if he can't "prove" that he is allowed to have the second
installation then the answer is "no".

I don't know about Office XP, but the OEM Office 2003 that I have
clearly states that it can be installed on two computers in the EULA.
Not only that, I have done just that and both copies activated and
passed the Genuine Disadvantage test when I went for updates.
