Default Licence to use office on photocopier external memory drive

I have a new photocopier (konica minolta bizhub/olivetti MF450).
It has a USB port so we can print documents from our memory keys straight
into the copier. We are able to print Jpegs and pdf's, but not office
documents. I have been told this is because we do not have a licence to run
office on our copier. Is this so, and how do we get around it?

Regards
Louisa

Your not running office on your photocopier, you are trying to print a file
(office document). you need to open this document within your Office before
you can print it.
Presumably its connected by ethernet to the PC's? and the drivers are
installed?

I was not able to find any detail information a bout that MF450, but it
appears it is using an open philosophy and rather than work with various
document file types, they have chosen to work only with more universal image
types.

I am not familiar with the term memory keys either, but I am going to
suggest that you may need to convert the documents you want to print into
pdf files or you may be able to contact Konica/Minolta to see if they have
drivers or add-ons that will help you out.

Whoever told you that you need to run Office on your copier needs to be
"encouraged" to find work in another field. I would suggest you read the
manual that came with your printer to find out how to print something off of
the flash drives.

That printer is an industrial copy machine with extended LAN
capabilities. It is a bit more than a printer. I have not seen the one in
question as I, like most of us are on this side of the pond and I believe
that printer is not available in the US, it is a UK product. In fact I
believe it may be one model behind the current product. It seems to have
some interesting features and interfaces. I would guess it needs drivers or
software update (from the printer manufacturer) for the office documents.
However if the documents are printed as pdf files then. I would guess that
those files will do as intended.
