Default hyperlink to a specific page of a pdf file

I have looked at all the threads on this issue, and it seems there is no
guaranteed way to do it. I was hoping for any further suggestions.
I have the latest versions of IE 7 and Acrobat Professional. I have tried a
test of creating a pdf of my own ( to avoid acrobat version problems) , but
the hyperlink always defaults to the first page of the pdf, regardless of
adding the extra "file.pdf#page=5" on the end. Any ideas? many thanks , Theo
