Default how to restore missing MS097.DLL (not very computer-savvy)?

Running XP, using Office 2000 SR-1. Recently message appears on start-up,
"msqry32.exe This application has failed to start because MS097.DLL was not
found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Will I lose any data if I reinstall Office? Do I have to uninstall Office
in order to reinstall? What is the simplest way to get the ?missing? .dll
back where it belongs? Thanks!

You will not lose data files but it never hurts to back them up first.

Yes, you should uninstall first. Dumping one version on top of a flawed
installation is asking for trouble.
