How do I fix when document will not let me copy because "locked"

I am unable to copy and paste a copy of my resume from recent documents to
another page. When I right click the response is appropriate but the
selections are all dimmed - no highlights. Also when I attempt to make any
changes to the document - the response at the bottom left is that "the
modification is not allowed because the document is locked." I am using ME.

What application are you working in? Word?
