Default HOW DO I CREATE A VERTICAL LINE DOWN A DOCUMENT?

I'm doing a document, and I'd like to make a left column with certain topics,
then a vertical line, then the rest of the text of that page to the right of
that line.

Assuming you're using Word... there are a variety of ways to accomplish what
you want, depending on how/if the text in the left column is associated with
the text in the right column.

If each "topic" in the left column is associated with text in the right
column, then the best way to accomplish what you want would be to use a
two-column table with one row for each topic, and to turn off the table
borders for everything except for the border/line between the two columns.

If the topics at the left don't need to align/correspond with text on the
right, you could use snaking/newspaper columns, and enable the "Line
between" option (Format - Columns).

You could also use a "bar tab," although that can be a bit funky and clunky
to understand, let alone explain.
