I use XP, Office 2003 - Recent problem developed, and not know why? Always
worked before....
PROBLEM: Whenever I try to type a message inside a Word document or Outlook
email and press the 'Enter' key to go next line.... my whole message and the
program disappears..
That is Outlook and Word just close and all information disappears into
black hole... cannot find it!!
I have tried reloading Office and also IE 7 in attempt to fix with no luck.
On using virus scan... this was found....
"Microsoft.Windows.Security.InternetExplorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LOCALMACHINE_ LOCKDOWN\iexplore.exe"
Maybe it is a clue to my problem?? I don’t know??
I have a temporary fix - If I disable all trusted sources of Macros (under
Tools) I can type a message... But I have to disable all the macro requests
each time I open Word and Outlook. There are approx 6 of them….. I am
totally frustrated!!!!!
Any suggestions to get a permanent fix most welcome....Thanks a million...

one method to help
analyze word issues
is to open it/run it via
safemode.
msoffice products also
have the ability to run
in safemode.
so if the issue with that
key doesnt appear in
safemode, then this would
be a clue.

Hello DB..
Thanks for the clue... I looked up how to run in safe mode..
Yes both MS Word and Outlook now work... I can write and save text message.
So what does this actually mean? What do I need to fix?......
Surely I do not run in safe mode forever....
Any more help to eliminate problem , I am most grateful
Cheers..

well, some of the logic
behind safemode is that
it is pure windows and
there are no third party
software loaded and
running, like in regular
mode.
office is highly reliable
however, if the system
resources are low, it will
do crazy things and
finding what all is mis
configured on your
regular windows is not
possible from my end.
but there are a couple of
methods to begin the process
of excluding possible hurdles.
one method would be
to initiate a "clean boot" of
your regular windows.
with this method you
would be disabling as
much as possible all those
software and services that are
not by microsoft - this
would load windows nearly
the same as safemode.
so if your office products
begin to function reliably after
the above, then you essentially
eliminated the problem.
but there is a nifty little trick
that you can try before the
above.
while inside you regular
windows desktop, hold the
ctrl key down and click the
word icon at the same time.
a pop up box will confirm
your action that you want
to launch word in its unique
safe mode enviroment:
