Doc properties for all office docs..how to change default company
Office Professional 2007; Vista Platform:
All of my word, excel, etc....documents show my company name as
Hewlett-Packard in all new office document properties summary sections. I am
tired of having to go into each document to delete that name and put in my
business name. How can I change this information so that new documents have
the info automatically?
Re: Doc properties for all office docs..how to change default company
Correct it in normal.dotx

Re: Doc properties for all office docs..how to change default comp
I tried a search *.dotm and only came up with a notepad file....called
fileassociations.....inside are lines of html (I'm guessing)....as I read
thru I found: [Misc];.dotx;no association
[Misc];.dotm;no association
Am I doing something wrong??

Re: Doc properties for all office docs..how to change default comp
Maybe we can approach this a different way. What if I sold my computer to
someone, how would my personal name and information be removed from HP files
and microsoft programs and updated with the new owners information? (Not that
this is the case with me....I bought my computer brand new....but I think
when it was setup....my name was inputted correctly at some point, but
someone neglected to put in my company name in place of what the computer
defaulted to which is Hewlett-Packard. So, where would I go to update that
type of information?

Re: Doc properties for all office docs..how to change default comp
You may have to search to include hidden
Normal.* is a default file used by MS Office, if your sys was provided
preinstalled by HP it will have their info in place.

Re: Doc properties for all office docs..how to change default comp
Thank you for your continued help.....I came to the same conclusion you did a
while ago after relentless help searches....so.....I click the box so that I
can "see" hidden files....and now know where the stupid normal.dotm file
is.....and then for about an hour I tried to save the changes but when I open
a new doc the change is never there.....I am so frustrated right now....I
really don't like where vista and HP puts files....and it is so hard to
locate things with the window format.....I grew up using DOS and over the
years learned the windows platform etc, blah blah blah....but all it does it
make people dumb....and with windows etc....it is harder to find things and
change things on the computer....because there are so many layers. If I told
you where the file normal.dotm was you would fall off of your
chair...C:/users\blahblah\appdata\roaming\mircosoft\templates \normal.dotm. Go
figure. Anyway at this point I am calling it a night before I throw my
computer out the window. Thank you once again.....this is such a simple
problem....and for it to be so difficult to solve is ludicras. I am at a
lost of where to continue from here.
