Default Corrupt frmcache.dat file

Several of my users have experienced a problem when attempting to open
attachments to email messages in Outlook or when trying to gain access to a
public folder. Users receive an error message indicating "cannot open this
item, object cannot be found". The problem appears to be related to the forms
cache being corrupt.

I have read all the articles about fixing the issue by clearing the cache or
deleting it, but does anyone know what the root cause is and how it might be
avoided? I would rather avoid having the issues than just fixing it and
something seems to be causing it for my company frequently.

We have Office 2003 SP2 installed, however, the problem still exists.
Thanks.

Default RE: Corrupt frmcache.dat file

We had the same problem in the office. But we are using Office 2007. After
deleting the frmcache.dat file, the error message stops appearing. But, after
a while, maybe a day or so, the symptom reappears. The only solution we had
right now is to delete that file. At this point, we determine it may have to
do with the fax software client we installed on the PC.

If anyone has the solution to share, that will be wonderful.

Interesting mention about fax software was we run RightFax on all machines.
It will be something I will look into, but I would still love to see if
anyone has any other ideas as to why this persists even after upgrades or
SPs. Thanks

We too use Office 2003 SP2 and run the RightFax client. Most of the
time I see this happen after a user has accessed their email from home
using the Citrix thin client. Once the user returns to the office we
need to delete the frmcache.dat to eliminate the error - they also
lose the ability to right click on items to delete or to move to
folders. Interesting.

Do either of you have a unified messenger setup in your environment as
well? I have been having the same issues but with only half of my
company - one half Has UM With issues - the other does Not have UM and
we also do not have any issues. Just curious if their is a link with
UM and Rightfax or strictly rightfax . . .

also what versions of Rightfax are you all on?

Thanks!
