Default Changing a default setting

How do I change the default Save As File Type for Word and Excel. I want the
default setting to be to save it as an Office 2003 document.

In Word, click on the Office button, click Word Options, click Save, and
choose "Word 97 - 2003" from the drop-down menu. Excel is a simliar process.
