I have an E machine W 3502 witha celeron processor.
It has MS Works on it which does not have the guttering
capability. I am ready to format a book and was going
to purchase Ms Word 2003 but every version I find
says it is only compatible with a Pentium processor.
Is there a version of Ms Word 2003 that will work with
my system? (It has an XP home OS)
My understanding is that compatability is related to CPU speed not the
actual brand/model. To find your CPU speed open the system properties
(windows key+pause/break key) and look for a figure in MHz or GHz under the
general tab. Office 2003 requires 233Mhz processor.
As a side bar I would advise you to look into buying one of the Office
suites rather than just Word as you may find the price is similar
(particularly if you qulify for student/teacher edition)
If this post answered your question please let us know as others may be

In all the system requirements, it says that a Pentium processor is required.
I have a Celeron. I need the publishing capability of Word. How can I be
sure that the Celeron will work?

It will do just fine, the new celeron is much more powerful than the
"Pentium" referenced on the box.
