Default cannot reduce size of reading pane

Help! Somehow my reading pane is larger than my screen. The right side
extends beyond my screen. I have tried to blindly grab that side with my
mouse and pull it in but can't seem to get it. I don't have my right side
scroll bars and only have half of the X. Please help this is driving me
crazy! And it's only been a few days!
