can't get single space, all documents will only do double space

I bought Office Home and Student 2007 from Staples. All documents, no matter
what font I use will only double space. I can't get anything to single
space. When I go into adjust the space, it is set at single space. I have
not been able to use this software because of this. No computer store can
help me, they don't know why.

garfield, I tried that, but it still won't work for me either. I can't get
word 2007 to single space when I have to hit ENTER for carriage return effect.

I have this happen to me sometimes and what works is to check what has been
set for the "normal" style. This tends to happen when I have inserted text
that someone else has typed in another document. It always clears when I use
"normal" and make sure that it is set at single space, then I pick what font
I want it to be. Hope this helps.

Did you try the steps listed under "Change the spacing before or after
paragraphs"?
