Default can't find "Microsoft Office Document Scanning " in my Office Pro

posted in microsoft.public.office.misc

I have a new Dell with Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Pro.

I have been reading "Using Microsoft Office 2007" - and just read about
Microsoft Office Document Scanning - which the book says can do OCR so I
tried to find Microsoft Office Document Scanning and it's not where it's
supposed to be in Start/Microsoft Office/ Microsoft Office Tools.

Any suggestions?

Joe

It's not installed by default. In the Control Panel, Programs and Features,
find Microsoft Office Pro 2007, click on it, click Change, Add or Remove
Features, Continue, expand Office Tools, set Microsoft Office Document
Imaging to Run All From My Computer, Continue, etc.

OK, that makes sense. BTW, this book is excellent- and I have another in the
same series of Vista. I wonder how many other applets are not installed by
default? Well, I'm reading these books- every page, so I'll find them. I
can't imagine the folks who never read computer books- they'll miss out on a
lot of options. (too bad the author didn't suggest that the program isn't
installed by default)

Thanks,
Joe

Hey, that's not a bad program for "free"- and you can then get OmniPage Pro
15 at a huge discount.
