Default Can no longer open Microsoft Office Document Image Writer files

Hello,

I didn't see this anywhere here, so I'm posting...........

I was using Windows Live One care trial for the past week. Two days ago
when I turned on my computer (Windows XP, sp2) the .mdi files would not
open. I print documents frequently with the Microsoft Office Document
Image Writer to my desktop, document files, etc. These files won't open
anymore. The Microsoft Office Document Image Writer is still listed in
the printers/fax folder, so I'm not sure what has happened. I read on a
forum that One Care in addition to slowing down computer performance
also has issues with MS Word. Not sure what to do, I just need to view
my files. Any help is appreciated.................

I have lost mine too. It seems to be something to do with an update that has
come through. If I do a system restore back to a couple of weeks ago it comes
back but as soon as my system downloads updates again it disappears!
I have left posting for help but nothing so far. I have tried following the
suggestions in other postings but they don' work.

How about you give us more than the barest details? What for example, does
"can no longer open" MEAN? What happens when you try?
Remember, no-one here can see your machine.
Also remember that the "forum" you are posting in leaches off the MS News
server, so please use Usenet etiquette in your posts by quoting the post you
reply to, reply to the thread, and don't change the subject line.

Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. Please excuse my inexperience using this
forum. Whenever I clicked on one of the .mdi files, a window opened
stating that Windows cannot open the file. I have played around with
this and figured out that somehow when i was using Windows One Care it
for lack of a better word unassigned these files that were previously
assigned or associated with Microsoft Office Document Imaging. I simply
checked that this files be opened by Microsoft Office Document Imaging.

I know this isnt in your tech savvy language but I just wanted to thank
you all on this site, because I wouldn't have figured it out myself.
