Can I use same Office 2007 program on my 2 home laptop and desktop computers?
Also, does it matter which version it is?

if you buy two - yes (except Home and Student where you can use it on up to
3 computers. note that it's for non-commercial use only.

I do not think Gyorgy is correct. From the retail version's terms at
http://download.microsoft.com/docume...9ded2e4396.pdf

I see the following clause right on page 1:

a. Licensed Device. You may install and use one copy of the software on the
licensed device.
b. Portable Device. You may install another copy on a portable device for
use by the single primary user of the licensed device.

Sounds like good news, Art!

Gyorgy's answer *is* correct. Two laptops and two desktops means a minimum
of two copies of the software. HSE is limited to 3 systems. Other versions
have a max of 2 - used by the same person. That could mean the OP might even
need up to 4 copies of the software, depending on its use.
