Default Allowance for Office 2010 vs 2007

I am about to buy the academic version of Office 2007 Professional for my
daughter who is a student at a Pennsylvania college. I know the release of
Office 2010 is imminent (within months, I'm guessing) but I can't wait since
she needs the programs for classes now. Will there be an academic upgrade
price? If so, how will she obtain it? Thanks for any help you can provide.

you can probably have her install
"open office" at this time since it
can read and save with Microsoft
file formats.

then you can save the cost of buying
two offices and wait to install the full
version of office 10 when it is released.

there hasn't previously been an Academic upgrade version(due to the
already significant price reduction), so it would be unlikly to expect
one for this round.

We don't even know when 2010 will be released, but my money's on "not nearly
that soon". I don't believe any pricing has been released yet.

But have your daughter check to see what deals the school offers on 2007. Some
schools buy volume licenses and make the software available to students/faculty
for prices in the $0 to Cuppa$tarbuck'sFrouFrouDrink range.

Many of the college students in Pennsylvania are eligible for an academic
discount or they can get the Office Ultimate deal for $60. I would not be
surprised if the offer was extended into the new version. Please bear in
mind that none of us are Microsoft employees so no matter what we said, it's
pure speculation.
