Default Address Book phone numbers from PDAs

Is Outlook 2003 designed to pull in phone numbers from PDAs like Treo? If
so, what format rules apply? Or how can I get it done?

Did not your Trio come with sync software?

Sure, but contacts on the Treo with only phone numbers and no e-mail
addresses don't appear in my laptop's Outlook after a sync. If a contact on
the Treo has an e-mail address and phone number, it syncs fine but without
the phone number.

I think that a related problem is that the Address Book in my Outlook 2003
doesn't accept contacts without e-mail addresses. For example, if I delete
the e-mail address from an existing Address Book contact that has a phone
number, the contact disappears from the Address Book.

Is my Outlook working as designed? Is there a configuration setting I can't
find?

Outlook doesn't "pull" anything from PDAs. You should have installed
some "sync" software that came with your "PDA" to provide this feature.
As to the Address book, it is for displaying "e-mail" addresses, and
will do so for any Outlook contact folder that is "marked" as an e-mail
address book, without e-mail addresses what would be the point of
offering to allow you to "send" an e-mail to someone without an e-mail
address?

As I said earlier in this thread, of course I'm using sync software. What
your post means to me is that I can't expect Outlook to be a true address
book, notwithstanding all the personal information fields.

Look in your Contacts folder. You seem to be confusing the purpose of
the e-mail "Address book" with Outlook Contacts.

Bob: You are absolutely right. That was my problem.
