Default introduction; help

My name is Linda and I need some SERIOUS advise about my laptop. I am doing a Masters in Social Work and I am in the process of doing my final papers, exams and presentiations... and GUESS WHAT! My presario 2100 started giving me the problems it gave everyone else on this world! The power plug on the motherboard started giving out... loose. So i kept fiddeling with it so that I could at least finish my Research II paper... but that was to heartwreenching stress... so I called my dad... and we gutted the thing out. Took everything apart, saudered the little thing and put everything back together... and now.. when I go to start my computer... NOTHING! It powers on and the fan turns, hard disk light is on, but nothing on the monitor. So i thought the monitor connection was not on right... checked this, but it was okay... Does anyone know what the problem might be? I hope I don't have to install the operating system? Because I wouldn't know where to begin?

Hi Linda,

Welcome to HTFC! Cool username!

Try connecting your laptop to the desktop monitor - if it doesn't work then you have a problem with some of the other parts of the laptop; if it works then double-check all connections to the screen.

Default Thank You

Thanks for responding so quickly.... I sent my computer to my brother and he said he hooked it onto a desktop and it works. My dad thinks the monitor must have gotten messed up somehow when we reinstalled it... I am not so sure? Should I purchase a new compaq laptop monitor? What do you suggest? Where would I look for a new monitor?

I agree with this, just double and triple check that all display ribbon (and other if any!) cables are connected correctly and there are no other visible signs that something is wrong.
