Default An Old FAQ

I know this question may seem old and outdated, yet I've never truly discovered its truth.

- Can video games cause problems on a computer.

To elaborate a little, can installing a video game on a PC cause problems for the computer? For example, slowing down of the computer or crashing of the computer. Many times I have been told not to install games on my computer because they will supposedly 'F**k up my PC'.

I've never believed these statements yet I never knew the honest truth. So can video games lead to computer problems?

A bit like like firing peas through a pea shooter, the one with more puff can fire more peas.... the puff being the CPU and FSB speed, the pea shooter being the RAM and Graphic card and Data being the good ol' peas.

Modern games are memory hungry and requires lots of data to be passed at speed any hiccup here and you'll get freezing, lockups and all sorts of problems but only when in use... no harm should be caused if they are installed and not in use.

With very little data flowing the power supply will think it's on vacation but as soon as data starts to flow the RAMS fill up the current increases and things starts to get a little warmer.

All depends on the games and the set up, gee wasn't so long when 256K of RAM was the norm what games can you play with that.... with all the service packs and patches installed... I spy?
