Vista Suddenly slow shutdown - HP Pavilion dv9233cl
Hello I have an HP Pavilion dv9233cl that came with Windows Vista.
Recently it has been taking 10 minutes or more to shut down - previously
this was not the case. I have not added any new programs.
Can you advise what to look for that might be making it so slow to shut
down all of a sudden? I have checked, there are no viruses on the system

That happens to me too from time to time. Pavilion dv9220 and a new Gateway
pc. No apparant reason. I end up doing a forced (hold down power button)
shut-down. If anyone has a cure I'd like to hear it. No real problem
except that on restart it goes through the whole 'improper shut-down'
process.

I use a shortcut with :
C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -s -f -t 4
and that seems to give me a fast shutdown.
Of course you have to save things before you
do that.
For Vista, you have to check whether SHUTDOWN.EXE
is available, and how it operates.
