Does anyone know if the quality of Acer aspire notebooks has decreased?

I have been told that as they are now manufacturing them to a lower
price for selling to the big supermarkets they are building them with
lower quality parts..

Thanks for any thoughts.

Most of the ones the supermarkets are selling are old spec ACER's (Old being
6-12months old). I bought the same one ASDA are selling 9 months ago for
£170 more than ASDA are selling them for.

My ACER Laptop has done me well (touch wood) and I can't complain about
anything with it, well apart from WinXP, but I've sorted that by creating a
Dual Boot System with Ubuntu 7.04.
