I have a Dell D620 with Centrino Duo CPU.
I have been experiencing a problem where a number of applications I
use are not quitting correctly, and when I
quit and restart the application it results in duplicate processes
running in Windows Task Manager. I notice the problem occurs after I
restart my computer from hibernate or standby mode. I' m experiencing
the problem on many applications like outlook, word and ms internet
explorer.
Does anyone know what would cause this behavior ?
I don't know if this is something related to a Duo processor but I did
not experience this problem on a single process Dell 610 with the same
software.

Sorry I won't be a lot of help, but my guess is a driver on your system
somewhere. Btw, I have seen this problem with Office '97. Although I
haven't ran that version in years. Although use Office 2000 and I see
that happen a lot of Outlook 2000. Strangely, Outlook Express 6 doesn't
have to same problem.

This is probably not the best NG to ask that question. I do not think
there is a unique explanation for this kind of problem, but here are some:
- corruption of hard disk. Check for lost cluster, virus, malware.
- failing hard disk
- Conflict between applications. Check applications running in the
background, applications loading with Windows
- corruption of program files. Uninstall and reinstall those presenting
this behavior frequently.
- Lack of hard disk space. Check that the temporary folders do have
space. Especially, checking settings in Control Panel,
System, Advanced, Environment variables.
Once you have gone throught this, let us know if the problem persists.
