i have an averatec laptop with registered xp pro on it and an asus
with vista......can i clone the averatec xp hard drive using acronis
true image then put the hard drive in the asus vista laptop then
reinstall the drivers for the asus....would the xp pro then work in
the asus.....thanks

No. Get 2gb for vista and you won't even consider such a hack, it
will work fine. As long as you have no symantec/norton products on
it, of course.

Chances are it won't but until you try ... If you have time to spare,
and adequate backups, going "back" to XP can only have benefits. Just
make sure you know what you are doing and can get back to your original
configurations.
Well, first, just to get this out of the way, if it did work ... it
would not be legal.
And it probably won't work; after you do it, it probably won't boot on
the Asus laptop at all, which will make installing the Asus drivers
impossible. Further, ***IF*** it did work, it would still probably fail
to activate and fail WGA unless you have a valid product key (different
from the Averatec product key).
