*** First, that's "really loud". "Real" does not mean "very". Sorry,
it's a pet grammar peeve of mine. (-:
I too, own a Pavilion and have had the same problem. Sometimes, the fan
runs properly; other times not. Last week, I took it to my local laptop
repair centre and they replaced the fan. I imagine the bearings were
going. Given the heat generated within laptop computers, I suggest that
you also have the fan replaced.
As for opening it up yourself, sorry I cannot help you there. I shy
away from working internally on laptops. I'd suggest that you ask your
local repair centre for a guesstimate on fan replacement, or at least
request the cost of a fan if you decide to do the work yourself.
ohh its cool about the grammar, and thnks for the responce, yea ill probably this week im going to take the lap so they can check it, i just wanted to hear someone's else opinion with the same problem tnks Richard Bonner

*** Thanks. I wish more had your attitude. Illiteracy is on the rise in
first-world countries and it annoys me to no end.

*** You're welcome. They should be able to give you a verbal ballpark
figure without charging a diagnostic fee. From there you can decide if you
want to enter it for service or tackle it yourself.
I have not used my laptop since it was repaired but will be on the
road on Thursday. I'll see then if it runs any cooler with the new fan.

The expression is normal for Americans who frequently drop the 'ly' from
adverbs. But then America is not a first world country.

*** Yes, which makes them become *adjectives*! Adjectives do not
describe verbs. As an example, "We need your eggs bad" means that a
food bank is asking for donations of rotten eggs.

*** No offense to my American friends here and elsewhere, but at one
time The United States was a country to be admired. Thanks to lousy
government, greedy & unethical corporations, and an education system that
has fallen well, well behind the times, it has tumbled to its lowest point
ever - even in the minds of its friends and neighbours. )-:
Hopefully this next administration will see the start of a return to
an admired status.

*** Some of it applies to other first-world countries, too. It's just
that the actions of those in The United States have had more far-reaching
consequences. Please note that my comments are not anti-American, and this
is not against American citizens in general.

*** I have used it a few times now, and the replacement fan is much
quieter. The laptop seems to run cooler, but not by a great amount.
I assume by this that the old fan was noisy but still cooling as it
should.

There was a funny note attached to our new laptop:
DO NOT USE THIS LAPTOP ON YOUR LAP!
Using it on any non-flat surface can block the fan's air intake,
resulting in failure of the fan and possible overheating of the unit.
