There were a few cracks in the bottom case, and they apper to be
growing.
I guess that as the bottom is the part that gets hottest it's just
getting brittle with age (manufactured in 2000.)
A few chips broke off near the ports on the back and I glued them back
with epoxy cement.
What suggested glues or other methods of repair does anyone have? As
it's on the bottom, cosmetics don't matter at all, just as long as it
sticks, is tough and preferably not too thick.
Does anyone know what kind of plastic this is made of?

to stop cracks, drill a small hole at their end(s).
as for a glue to replace pieces, try cynoacrelate.

The glue that sems to work best is the stuff sold for glueing lengths of
plastic water pipe together.

Do you speak from personal experience?
What kind of glue exactly?
There are (at least) two different kinds of plastic pipe glue,
depending on the kind of pipe.

ABS or PVC. Are laptops one of these?

it would be nice to be sure.

I second that. He told you what glue. Go to the hardware
store and get the stuff that's used to glue water pipe together.
I use the "universal" stuff, but not clear it's important.

Trust me, go with the first answer! Go to a hobby shop and buy the thin
CA.
It runs in the cracks like water, in 10 seconds it's stonger than new.
Press the crack together, and one drop will run in and bond instantly.
Don't use too much.
I fly RC helicopters, and use it all the time.

He said "pipe glue". There are at least two different types.
>From the link I gave:
"Gluing PVC pipe is a similar process, but a cleaning chemical
(primer) that prepares the plastic goes on before the glue. CPVC pipe
also has its own type of glue so be sure to purchase the glue that
matches the plastic you're working with."
I don't want to insult anyone, but I want to know if anyone has
personally tried these glues to fix a laptop.
Experimenting is likely to be destructive.
