Hi i have a few old P3 Dell latitude laptops and want to install XP on
them.I have new blank hard drives for them.Problem is they don't come with a
CD-Rom drive ...only a floppy.What would be the best way to install OS on
them?Thanks

How I did that some time ago:
Have a Windows 98se boot disk
Boot, partition and format the HD in FAT32
Use a DOS file transfer program (such as FX20) to transfer the xp cd
contents to a directory on the HD thru a parallel cable from another PC
(get it here: http://sta.c64.org/dosprg.html)
Run the windows install from DOS.

IRRC, the setup program won't run in DOS.
You have to go to the i386 directory and run winnt.exe with some
switches that I don't recall.
Maybe someone else has the exact details.
If you're gonna do this a few times, you can save some time
by plugging your hard drives into your desktop to do the big file
transfers. It's still a good idea to do the fdisk/format in the laptop
first.

Anything as new as a P3 should be able to boot from a USB CD Drive.
I don't have a CPT any more.
Might be worth investing in a CD drive if you're gonna keep them running.
Was thinking of doing that but USB is not included as an option in setup
boot options
