The other day i bought an Asus EEE PC to play around with.
And you no what. This gadget has a non-glare screen.
I love it. You can use it in quite bright lit conditions.
The nowadays 'normal' laptop glossy screens are totally unusable
outside as you see the mirror of your self. Especialy when you wear
bright clothes.
So I hope that the laptop manufactures will see the light and start
producing laptops again without the shiny surface (as most monitors
are produced!)

YES! YES! YES! So tell me more? Which model did you get? I liked the first
one so much I bought another one that needs repair that I will fix.
Both are 701 black and 4GB SSD. One has 512MB and the other has 2GB of RAM.
One has Windows XP and the other Linux.

Its a matter of personal preference. I prefer the laptop glossy greeen
and its wise for this notebook manufacturers to have done that
improvement!
In fact I dispatched an old HP having that non glossy screen and gave
it
to somebody who have never used a laptop.
And to my surprise he said to me,next time you have glossy screen
laptop
that you don't need please sell (if not give it) to me. <grin>

I believe I have seen people adding or removing glossy screen. I seem to
recall they either add or remove a layer on the screen. I don't know how
hard it is to do though.

Bill,
If I can see people adding a "glary" layer on their screens, I would be
curious to know how to remove this ugly glossyness ... Although some
seem to like it, personally I will never buy a machine with such a
screen. I do know this will badly restrict my choice - unless someone
has one he "does not need"! - but this is a No-No for me.
