Default Is It A Vga Problem Or Motherboard Has Shocked?

What is wrong with my computer?
I had a System power up problem, so I performed the following actions:
1. I removed the cpu fan
2. I cleaned the thermal paste from cpu with isopropanol
3. Placed a new cpu fan
4. I hit the switch power button( no result)
5. Take the motherboard battery out, and put it back, take the RAM out and put it back, all cables are checked and placed properly
6. I hit the switch power on again ( motherboard led is on, psu fan is working, cpu fan is working, case fan is working, but there s no image on the monitor)
7. Monitor checked with other pc, it s working properly
8. Take the mother board battery out, cleared the RTC RAM in CMOS(Move the jumper cap from pins 1-2 (default) to pins 2-3. Keep the cap on pins 2-3 for about 5~10 seconds, then move the cap back to pins 1-2.
9. Re-install the battery.
10. Plug the power cord and turn ON the computer.
11. Hold down the <Del> key during the boot process. Screen powered up, but all I can see is coloured strips on the screen

What could be the problem now?
The motherboard ?
Bios settings? If yes how can I fix this problem
Onboard VGA? if yes which pci-e video card you would recommend for this motherboard?
Can Anyone help me out?
Motherboard is Asus P5GL-MX

Well first of all as you kinda hinted, I'd be tempted to try either the power supply or a AGP card, making sure it's suitable for your mobo... borrow one to try will work out cheaper.

Keep a look out for bad caps (capacitors) on the mobo, here's what they look like.

Myself, I'd be tempted to try the power unit first... but they would both need to be tried as a starter, which to try first is up to you just that we need to be sure these are OK.

why did you change the cpu fan? also, when you were changing the fan and cleaning the processor, did you remove the power cord and discharge the system first?

i would lean more towards the onboard video giving up on ya. if it's a power issue, then you can remove the power leads from your drives and see if it will boot. if it does the same thing, then your power supply is fine.

there are tons of choices for a pci-e video card. i prefer nvidia. your price range will be your deciding factor. you could probably find a decent card for around $40. make sure your power supply has the needed power lead available for the video card you purchase as well.
