Default stuborn software

Hi, I posted this at the Printers forum. See link:

http://www.howtofixcomputers.com/for...re-246849.html

I repost here just in case, because it isn't related to my printer per se, but about the software bundled with it.
I hope someone can give me a hand. Thank you in advance

After reading the link I wonder have you tried disabling the Firewall before installing the program?

Confirming the printer works and prints OK may be worth a mention, it would be useful to know what the error message said it may have provided a code that could throw light.

Re comment about the Usenet newsgroup I quite agree if you post in the Usenet groups it would be wise to read the FAQ first and will explain all, see link.

Hi Dave, and thank you for your answer. As for your points:

I did disable the firewall to install the program because with the firewall on, it just stops at 96%. But that is (the install) for all programs needed to run the AIO, including the Photosmart Essential.
The message I got was after my first attempts to install, and with the firewall on, and with the wrong Flash Player version.
I solved the "issues", and I could install everything to 100%, and without messages.

The printer works fine, both from the buttons on the machine, and through the software (HO Solution Center). I can scan, copy, print....
I forgot to mention I use Windows XP Pro with SP3 and with all the Windows
updates and patches.

So, the only thing that gives me trouble is the software used to transfer pictures from my camera, manage and print them.
As I said, I can use Windows or Picasa to accomplish this things, but it bothers me to have something that refuses to work, and for the life of me I don't understand what is preventing it from opening.

Do you know if there is any test I can perform to find out what the problem might be?
Thank you again

Have you had a look in Event Viewer for any clues, you'll fine this in Control Panel then Performance and Maintenance in Admin Tools, if you clock on the event a explanation window will open.

There is no reason why the software shouldn't work unless there is a driver conflict, I'm wondering if it's anything to do with SP3.

I've never used Photosmart so I can't comment but would it be worth suggesting looking in its menu to see if the Camera source is selected instead of any other device, just trying to throw some light.

Does this link provide a clue? Photosmart FAQs
