pc stuck in restart loop

hi, i have had my pc for a couple of years with pretty much no problems, until last night.
at some point during the night i got the "blue screen of death". this happened while i was asleep. when i woke up i restarted my pc, and it would not load, it got to the bios screen, and it just restarted, and has done ever since. it always reaches the same point in bios screen:"ahci bios installed" after this it restarts, i can open up f2 and f11 shortcuts, have run harddrive diagnostics, which passed. i can also boot the windows CD, but nothing is fixing this issue, if anyone can suggest anything it would be very much appreciated. many thanks.

How about trying a restore from Safe mode.... go into safe mode and select boot from 'Last good configuration that worked'... if that's a no go then I'd certainly try the hard drive in another unit, or try a known good hard drive.... we're not bothered about the mobo drivers here we just want to know if it boots, I trust you have checked the drives IDE lead.

You didn't say what the operating system is.

thank you very much for your reply. as it turns out, the issue was to do with Windows (i run xp by the way) i decided to reformat the PC and now it is working fine. thanks for all your help

A restore might have done the trick... but there isn't anything like a 'Clean install' as it's sometimes called, glad it's sorted.
