Hi, I'm new to these forums so I'm not exactly sure what information is needed, so if you need anything else just ask.
I was just playing Left 4 Dead on my computer and there was a loud popping sound from inside my case (almost like a small firecracker going off)
I didn't have any performance issues and it's actually happened once before, but I don't think it is normal and seems like it could definitely cause some problems.
Possibly an electrolytic capacitor blowing. There have been some with contaminated electrolyte that leads to internal pressure and bulging with some leaking.
If you have a motherboard containing these it will eventually fail.
As can be noted their tops should be nice n' flat... this need not mean that is the end of the mobo as the capacitors can be changed, always use 105 deg. C low ESR types do not use standard components.
Also I would cast an evil eye on the power supply.... it too could be responsible for 'roasting chestnuts'. BTW caps is short for capacitors.
