Hi, welcome kamikazexj.
First of all the bios must boot when you first power up before anything else happens, bios boot that single bleep you get when you power up is the bios waking up checking itself out, this is properly known as POST, Power On Self Test, if it doesn't pass this stage nothing else will happen. After bios POST or boot which ever you prefer to call it hands control over to the CPU and then starts to load start up programs into RAM and away you go computerin'.

It may not be getting past this stage but we need to find out, simply by going into bios set up screen.... if you can't you can forget the rest, you'll get bios boot and be able to access the bios set up menu with just the 'bare essentials'.

So I would suggest unplugging everything, all the drives and any USB

devices... including the hard drive, all you need really is the RAM and graphic
card connected, obviously we need the mobo CPU power supply and keyboard installed . Doing this would narrow thing down considerably and if everything was OK even with the hard drive disconnected you would get something like...

... 'Please insert your operating system disc', 'No hard drive found', 'Hard drive failure' or similar message, it would let you know in some way. If iy can access the bios with a 'bare bones' set up then first of all connect the hard drive and try again, keep doing this until all is either connected or you 'hit' the problem.

You could of course disconnect everything one at a time if you don't fancy doing it all in one go. trying as you go along, starting with the hard drive is the best.

If you can't get into bios with just the basic things connected then it's gotta be one of these, I'd try with removing the graphic card and re-inserting because sometimes the connections, which are fine gold plated copper tracks can 'creep' with age and heat and the pressure of the contact springs.

Always leave the CPU as they very last item to point blame at, avoid removing if at all possible, because when you remove these you need to clean all the old heat sink gunge off and apply new paste, paste is far better than these so called thermal tabs you sometimes see... a few degree's better in fact, there is always the risk of damage to the CPU or mobo as well, rather then cast evil eyes on the CPU I'd be tempted to try other things even though sometimes removing and fitting the CPU can cure such problems, if at all possible try a known good video card or power supply or what have you before doing this.

Power supply and Graphic cards are known for these types of problems.

While you are delving about look out for bad capacitors, caps for short, here's a link to see what they look like [url="http://home.earthlink.net/%7Edoniteli/index27.htm"]Bad caps in Mobos.[/URL, do note bad caps may not always be the cause of the problem.

It could well be a corrupted bios or duff back up battery, after about three or four years service they go down hill, removing the battery for about three minutes will set the bios to default or factory settings, it may better to change the battery if a few years old rather than refitting it as thenm you can be sure. Do note if you do this you will have to do a bios set up, there's usually a 'quick set' button you can press to avoid going through the set up hassle.
