Default Case for Internal Hard Drive

Long story as to why I have an internal rather than external hard drive since I want to use it for backing up data from my desktop computer, but I now have a 500 GB desktop hard drive, PATA 7200 RPM. I understand I could buy a case for the internal drive and then be able to use it for backing up, just like an external drive. Where I am now (Brazil), the only cases I have found are labeled as being for SATA/IDE. Would such a case work for my drive? I have seen online, from stores in the U.S., cases denoted as being for PATA/EIDE. Thanks.

Hi, see if there is any help here Converting PATA drives for USB

A wise choice to keeping back ups.... another one would be to get yet another drive and clone the main 'C' drive just in case you have any problems you can either re-clone or swap the cloned drive for the main hard drive and your back in business... I learned the hard way
