Must be fairly common, but you sound a bit stressed, so....

I can't vouch for the solution below, but I found it at http://www.vistax64.com/vista-accoun...-password.html

***
"You are using Windows Vista, correct?

You should be able to re-boot in safe mode and log in as the built-in
administrator. This account generally doesn't have a password and is only
available in safe mode.

From there, you can get to User Accounts and change passwords.

When your restart your computer, press F8 right before you see the Windows
splash screen. This will bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu, from which
you can select Safe Mode.

You can bet software that will recover them.... some are free some not, but at least many will let you try them and will let you see the files but not recover them until you paid the one-off license.

I accidentally formatted a slave with all my PCB artwork and jpegs, I got them all back thanks to Get My data, this was the first one I tried and I stuck to..... a Google for 'File recovery software' should strike a hit, as said I suppose some are good and some are bad that includes free and paid ones.

There are also password recovery programs, see Sticky section here, there's a whole bunch to try.

Note Everyone: Formatting or deleting items does not wipe data from the disc, It took me three formats before the files wasn't recovered with basic software, to do a proper job takes several hours, with say Kill Disk or similar software because several 'passes' are needed.

For disk cleaning, I suggest DBAN. It's free, and it's built on a small Linux kernel. The strandard program takes 4 passes, I believe.

Default How does one clear the CMOS on laptop?

Clearing the CMOS by shorting JP1 was an old technique for bypassing passwords; is this possible with a laptop?

Ah.... top secret that is, giffus ya money and I will tell

Well, as you are aware there's all kinds of programs so you can expect some working slightly different than others here's an example Recover local machine Password.

This is just to give an insight how they work, you boot from the CD and follow the on-screen instructions, some programs are free and some not.... either way there's good ones and bad ones amongst them, which they are I can't say because I've never used them.
